Auto/Biography in the Americas: Relational Lives brings together scholars from disparate regions, cultural perspectives, linguistic frameworks, and disciplinary backgrounds to explore what connects narrated lives in the Americas. Exploring Afro-diasporic subjectivities, gendered narratives, lives in translation, celebrity auto/biographies, and pedagogical approaches to teaching auto/biographical narratives, this volume argues that connections between locations in the Americas may be found in a shared history of diasporic movement causing an awareness of the need to belong and to define the self in relation to others. This book was published as a special issue of ab: AutoBiography Studies.

Ricia Anne Chansky is Associate Professor of Literature at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She is the co-editor of the scholarly journal, a/b: Auto/Biography Studies, and editor of the forthcoming volumes, The Routledge Auto/Biography Studies Reader and Auto/Biography across the Americas: Transnational Themes Life Writing. She founded the International Auto/Biography Association - Chapter of the Americas.
