Helmuth, whose military position took him a great deal into the society of the capital, had the greatest regard for his reserved, laborious brother, to whom he was affectionately attached. He took advantage of a quiet hour to sketch him absorbed in his studies, sitting a little way behind him. To the end of his life the Field-M arshal would ask to see this drawing from time to time, and contemplate it with smiling interest.
