This little book is an expansion and rearrangement of a course of lectures given by me in the United States Infantry and Cavalry School, and has been prepared for publication in its present form at the suggestion of Major John F. Morrison, General Staff, Senior Instructor Department of Military A rt, Army Service Schools. Possibly it may help, in a small way, to interest officers of other arms in Field A rtillery, and thus strengthen the feeling of unity throughout the service.
