Synopsis

Lost Light: An Interpretation of Ancient Scriptures is a book written by Alvin Boyd Kuhn, an American scholar of comparative religion and mythology. In this book, Kuhn offers a unique perspective on the interpretation of ancient scriptures, particularly those of the Bible, by examining them through the lens of mythology and symbolism. He argues that the true meaning of these texts has been lost over time due to literal interpretations and a lack of understanding of the symbolic language used by the authors. Kuhn's aim in this book is to help readers rediscover the hidden wisdom and spiritual insights contained within these ancient texts. He explores topics such as the creation story, the nature of the divine, the human condition, and the afterlife, all from a mythological and symbolic perspective. Kuhn also draws upon the teachings of various religious traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and ancient Egyptian religion, to support his interpretations. Lost Light: An Interpretation of Ancient Scriptures is a thought-provoking and insightful book that challenges readers to think beyond traditional interpretations of religious texts and to explore the deeper spiritual truths that they contain. It is a must-read for anyone interested in comparative religion, mythology, and spirituality. With keys drawn from ancient Egypt's wisdom it (The Lost Light) pierces through the outer veil of Bible literalism and alleged history and reconstructs the long-lost structure of sublime arcane meaning. He establishes the epochal fact that the Christian religion can no longer be considered a product of Judea in the first century A.D., but is of remote Egyptian origin. The evidence amassed demonstrates beyond cavil that the Bible is a reprint of old Egyptian texts. Partial Contents: Wisdom Hidden in a Mystery; Loosing the Seven Seals; The Descent to Avernus; Colonists from Heaven; The Mummy in Amenta; Dismemberment and Disfigurement; Earth, Water, Air, Fire; Baptism at the Crossing; The Ark and the Deluge; The Lake of Equipoise; Suns of Intellect; At the East of Heaven. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Présentation de l'éditeur

2015 Reprint of the 1940 edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Highly influenced by the work of Gerald Massey and Godfrey Higgins, Kuhn contended that the Bible derived its origins from other Pagan religions and much of Christian history was pre-extant as Egyptian mythology. He also proposed that the Bible was symbolic and did not depict real events, and argued that the leaders of the church started to misinterpret the bible at the end of the third century. Many authors including Tom Harpur and John G. Jackson were influenced by the works of Kuhn. Harpur even dedicated his best-selling 2004 book, "The Pagan Christ" to Kuhn, calling him "a man of immense learning and even greater courage" and "one of the single greatest geniuses of the twentieth century" [who] "towers above all others of recent memory in intellect and his understanding of the world's religions." Harpur notes that Kuhn gave nearly 2,000 public lectures which were lengthy, detailed and well-attended, but suggests that Kuhn's self-publishing may have resulted in a lack of attention to his work.
