There are two means by which the blessed God has chosen to reveal himself to the sons of men, his word and his works. These may be called the two great luminaries of the church, though the one be greater and more resplendent, and communicates light to the other. By viewing the marvellous correspondence of these two lights, it may be easy to see God sfaithfulness in the accomplishment of the Scripture; and, indeed, this is a truth of great concern, and one that calls for serious study, the solid persuasion of which will afford a sweet ground of repose and rest to the soul, though the earth were all in a combustion round about, and give a satisfying answer to our most solicitous thoughts and fears. This being the intended subject of the following discourse, I shall first offer the propositions generally, and then hold forth some more particular grounds, whence it may be clearly demonstrated. I.
