Synopsis

Ill-Starred General: Braddock Of The Coldstream Guards by Lee McCardell is a biography of Major General Edward Braddock, a British officer who served in the Coldstream Guards during the 18th century. The book chronicles Braddock's life and military career, including his service in the French and Indian War, where he famously suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of French and Native American forces. McCardell delves into Braddock's personal life, including his relationships with his family and fellow officers, as well as his leadership style and tactics on the battlefield. The book also explores the political and social context of the time, providing a rich historical backdrop to Braddock's story. Through meticulous research and engaging prose, McCardell brings to life the story of a flawed but fascinating figure in British military history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
