My Ivory Cellar: The Story of Time Lapse Photography is a book written by John N. Ott that delves into the history and techniques of time-lapse photography. Ott, a pioneer in the field, shares his experiences and insights on the subject, including his early experiments with time-lapse photography in the 1920s and his development of the ""Ivory Cellar"" - a darkroom that allowed him to control the lighting and temperature for his time-lapse films. The book covers the science behind time-lapse photography, including the effects of light, temperature, and time on plant growth and other natural phenomena. Ott also explores the artistic possibilities of time-lapse photography, highlighting the ways in which it can be used to capture the beauty and wonder of the natural world.Throughout the book, Ott shares his personal anecdotes and stories, giving readers a glimpse into the life of a pioneering photographer. He also provides practical advice for those interested in trying time-lapse photography themselves, including tips on equipment, lighting, and composition.Overall, My Ivory Cellar is a fascinating and informative read for anyone interested in photography, science, or the natural world.
