O Bobo é um romance histórico de Alexandre Herculano, publicado inicialmente em "Panorama" em 1843 e editado postumamente em volume, apenas em 1878. O autor situa a narração no ano de 1128, dias antes da batalha de S. Mamede que opôs o exército de D. Afonso Henriques ao da sua mãe D. Teresa. Assim podemos assistir às tramas medievais e à estratégia usadas por ambos os exércitos, assim como sabemos o porquê do ódio que D. Afonso Henriques nutre pelo conde Peres de Trava, amante da mãe. Nisto tudo, um homem tem um papel fundamental, alguém que todos menosprezam, alguém que aparentemente nada valia: D. Bibas, o Bobo da corte. Alexandre Herculano de Carvalho e Araújo (1810 — 1877) foi um escritor, historiador, jornalista e poeta português da era do romantismo.

“O Bobo” is a historical novel by Alexandre Herculano, first published in 1843. The story takes place in the year 1128, days before the battle of S. Mamede. The novels shows the contemporary plots and strategies used by both armies, as well as the reason for the hatred that D. Afonso Henriques has for Count Peres de Trava, his mother's lover.
