Synopsis
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

October 12th, 1864, to commemorate the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Conquest of Sew Netherland, GULIAN C. Veeplaxck, LL.D., submitted tlie following Resolution, wliich was seconded by George Ba Xckopt, LL.D., and adopted unanimously: Resolved, That the thanks of this Society are eminently due and are hereby tendered to John Romeyx Brodiiead, LL.D., for his eloquent Oration, delivered this evening, in commemoration of the Conquest of New Netherland, and that a copy be requested for the Archives of the Society, and for publication.
