Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

John Arthur Thomson (1861 - 1933)
Sir John Arthur Thomson (July 8, 1861 - February 12, 1933) was a Scottish naturalist who authored several notable books and was an expert on soft corals. Born in Salton, East Lothian, he taught at University of Aberdeen from 1899 until 1930, the year he was knighted. His popular works sought to reconcile science and religion. Thomson's Outline of Science, published in 1922, sold more than one hundred thousand copies in five years. He died in Limpsfield, Surrey. (Quote from wikipedia.org)
