Synopsis
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

The Author has attempted to bring within the compass of a handy volume the law relating to the Contract of Hire-P urchase. Where possible the head-notes of the more important cases are set out, and the forms of agreements used in a few of the cases have been included in the text for comparison with those now in use. Much has been said and written against this kind of contract, but the system has been widely adopted, and is undoubtedly popular. The Author ventures to suggest that the chief defect in the law as it at present stands is the absence of any system of registration which might offer a means of protection to persons who innocently purchase goods from a fraudulent hirer.
