The works of George Peele were first collected in 1828, 2vols., by Alexander Dyce; a second edition appeared in 1829. A supplementary third volume, containing Sir Clyomon and other pieces, followed in 1839. Dyce re-issued Peele sworks (after careful revision), together with the plays and poems of Robert Greene, in 1861, I vol. It is hardly necessary to say that I have availed myself to the fullest extent of Dyce slabours. In preparing my edition I have been greatly assisted by Mr. P. A. Daniel It gives me no slight satisfaction to be able to state that every proof and every revise has been read by him. Those who are interested in knotty points of textual criticism will appreciate Mr. Daniel sadmirable notes on difficult passages of that corrupt play Edward LI have also to thank Dr. Brinsley Nicholson for valuable notes and suggestions. 14A May x888.
