Bentham writes about this principle as it manifests itself within the legislation of a society. About The Author Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) was born in London, educated at Oxford, called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, and devoted himself to physical science and the theory of jurisprudence.
