Synopsis
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

À propos de l'auteur
Arthur Hill Hassall (1817-1894) was a British physician, chemist, and microscopist known for his significant contributions to the study of algae and water quality. He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in London. Hassall's expertise in microscopy and botany led to the publication of several works on freshwater algae, establishing him as a prominent figure in the field of phycology.
