Synopsis

Most of this writing was inspired by life events. At first, I was surprised by the cathartic gift of expressing strong feelings in writing, better yet in rhyme. It seems to give a certain relief, perspective, closure. I have now learned to look for the pen when moved and shaken. Writing, instead of an afterthought, has become a companion transforming both trauma and dreams into stories and rhyme. It lets me share and connect my private dreams and truma with our common shared human journey.Writing lets me relearn the constructive lessons of life’s tragedies and share my dreams. I wrote laughing and crying, I reread smiling and sighing -- and relearning life’s lessons. More than anything, writing has helped me tell my story.The writing spans poetry, stories, and various adventures -- creative adventures in foreign lands, entrepreneurial adventures with startups, science adventures analyzing DNA, and mathematical adventures isolating computer viruses. The stories of Section II tell of a glorious childhood and the death of a longtime friend I knew since we were seven years old. In this section, I also revisit my Alma Mater after forty four years and describe giving a lecture on entrepreneurship. Two of the stories were on exhibit at the American Visionary Art Museum, 'The Vortex' on page 70 and 'The After Smile' on page 118.The third section 'Adventures of spirit' describes trips to Beijing, Hanoi, Saigon, and Paris -- -- where I went to lecture and teach. Hanging out with computer science colleagues of a different nationality is really intriguing -- -- so much alike and so much different. And surprise surprise, the person that learned the most was the teacher, me. Why do we have to travel so far to get to know ourselves?
