The application of psychology as a natural science to the solution of occult psychic phenomena implies, first of all, a concise statement and a clear understanding of psychology as a natural science. For this reason, it was absolutely indispensable to devote a large space in this work to the elucidation of the principles upon which the final conclusions are based. Psychology as a natural science is the outcome of Dr. Friedrich Eduard Beneke slabors to base philosophy on firm ground. The results of these profound investigations are laid down in the two volumes of his Psychologische Skizzen, Goettingen, bei Vandenhoeck Ruprecht, 1825 and 1827, and in many other works. In the year 1847 I published a little book under the titleD ie neue Seelenlehre Dr. Beneke s, nach methodischen Grundsatzen in einfach entwickelnder Weise furL ehrer bearbeitet, von C. G. Raue, with the object of popularizing Beneke sresearches. This little book is the nucleus of the present work. It had five editions in the German language, each edition following the first having been revised and augmented by my friend and former teacher, J. G. Dressier, Seminardirector in Bautzen. In 1859 the third edition was translated into Flemish by J. Blockhuys (G hent, Van Dooselaer), and the fourth into English, 1871, under the title The Elements of Psychology, etc. (translator not named), Oxford and London, James Parker Co. According to theE ncyclopcedia Britannica there exists also a French translation which, however, I have never seen.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This philosophical text investigates the origin of occult phenomena by applying psychology as a natural science. The author begins by exploring the nature of human senses and how they interact with external stimuli to create sensations and perceptions. Then the author turns to the concept of vestiges, or mental remnants, created by these sensory experiences. The author argues that vestiges are the building blocks of consciousness and that they can be combined in various ways to form complex thoughts, concepts, and emotions. The author also explores the relationship between consciousness and unconsciousness, arguing that consciousness is a state in which mental aggregates become conscious modifications. Finally, the author argues that all mental development, including the development of occult phenomena, is a result of the interaction between external stimuli and the innate forces of the human mind.
