What an euphonious title! one we would not venture to change or presume to rival in many respects; but as we (the daughters) are living in an age of progress, we will venture to suggest, without any disrespect to our mothers, that while their theories were perfect, we wish to add some suggestions and recipes, which, in our experience, we have found successful, and great improvements on the former editions, and have won for us from the lords of creation the pleasing commendation, Wife, jour cooking of this (or that) dish has outdone our mothers a thing we considered impossible. In view of these most wonderful achievements in liousehold good, we have been stimulated to add new recipes, and to send this Cook Book forth into the world, confident of success, as every young housekeeper who is encountering the fiery trials of life, will find remedies for most of the ills that flesh is heir to, and the means of securing happiness, and sunshine too, for her household, followingS olomon sadvice, giving meat to her household and a portion to her maidens, well cooked and palatable.
