This biography of the infamous Napoleon Bonaparte, written by renowned German history professor Max Lenz at the beginning of the twentieth century is an unparalleled view into the life of this great, if not necessarily for solely strictly moral reasons, leader.
Rising to power due to his actions fighting for the Republic during the French Revolution, Napoleon soon became a favourite of the French people. After rising still further in power over the ensuing years, coming to control much of Western Europe, Bonaparte was finally defeated and banished to the island of Elba, only to escape and once again raise an army to fight his archenemies, the British. After his final defeat against Duke Wellington in June 1815 Napoleon was once more sent into exile, this time in the South Atlantic, where he remained until his death in 1821.
