This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating history of the Jewish people as seen through the eyes of ancient Greek and Roman writers. It presents a collection of extracts from classical literature, spanning from the early Greeks to the fall of the Roman Empire, offering a unique perspective on Jewish history, culture, and religion. The author meticulously curates these historical records, juxtaposing them with corresponding passages from the Bible and the works of Josephus, a Jewish historian. This approach allows readers to compare and contrast how the Jewish people were perceived by both insiders and outsiders, shedding light on the complexities of their interactions with the Greco-Roman world. Through these extracts, we encounter diverse perspectives on significant events such as the Exodus from Egypt, the conquest of Canaan, and the reigns of prominent figures like King Solomon. The book also explores the evolution of Jewish customs and religious practices, including circumcision and Sabbath observance, as viewed by external observers. By examining these historical accounts, readers gain valuable insights into the cultural and religious landscape of the ancient world and the place of the Jewish people within it. Ultimately, this book offers a thought-provoking exploration of identity, cultural exchange, and the power of historical narratives in shaping our understanding of the past.
