A uthor. The translation was commenced last year immediately after the permission had been graciously given; but what was begun as a pleasant task, had to be completed in sorrow. Thus the volume in its present form has to go forth not merely as a vehicle of delightful instruction, but as a regretful tribute to the memory of a man who by his genuine devotion to Nature and by his readiness to impart his experiences to others, had succeeded in establishing a sympathetic bond with the more humble workers in the field of Ornithology. ALBERT GUNTHER. British Museum, Nat. Hist, August 4, 1889.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. Travel down the Danube river in the late 19th century alongside the author, an avid sportsman and ornithologist, as he embarks on a shooting expedition along its picturesque banks. Though the primary aim of the journey is to hunt game, it quickly transforms into a scientific exploration of the river's rich ecosystem. Join the author as he encounters a myriad of bird species, their habitats, and the larger ecological context in which they exist. Through the author's keen observations and engaging accounts, this literary account captures the essence of Hungary's natural heritage, situating birdlife within the broader story of human interaction with the environment.
