Présentation de l'éditeur

This little volume Is a reprint of Sir William Hamilton sL ectwres on Modified Logic, and of the most valuable portions of the famous Port Royal Logic, translated by T. S. Baynes. The design of the publication is to provide, in cheap and convenient form, aM anual or Text-B ook, on what Hamilton calls Modified or Concrete Logic, but what others have variously designated as Applied or Practical Logic. Whatever may be tliought of the propriety of including this department of study within the science of Logic, there can be no doubt of its very great im)X)rtance, and jt as little doubt of its having been sadly neglected. Those who have not mastered the elements of formal or technical Logic, as well as those who have, may derive immense advantage from a careful jxirusal of these pages. The merits of Sir William Hamilton are so well known, that it is |)erhap8 unnecessary here to say anytliing in commendation of that pi-t of the volume which was written V)y him.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a novel approach to logic, by combining the formal laws of thought with insights from applied or practical logic. While the importance of logic in everyday life is often overlooked in favor of more specialized disciplines, the authors argue that it is a vital tool for making sound judgments and avoiding common reasoning errors. The book's unique approach makes it accessible to a wide range of readers, regardless of their background in philosophy or logic. The authors provide clear and concise explanations of the basic concepts of logic, as well as practical guidance on how to apply these concepts to real-world situations. They also offer a valuable perspective on the history of logic, tracing its development from the ancient Greeks to the present day. The insights presented in this book are essential for anyone who wants to improve their critical thinking skills, make better decisions, and understand the world around them. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781330255056_0
