Natural Philosophy Class A in the University of Glasgow. It i intended primarily as a class-book for mathematical students and as an introduction to the advanced treatises dealing with the subjects of the different chapters, but since the analysis is kept as simple as possible, I hope it may be useful for chemists and others whish to loam the principles of these subjects. It is complementary to the text books in dynamics commonly used by junior honours classes. A knowledge of the calculus and a good knowledge of elementary dynamics and physics is presupposed on the part of the student. A large proportion of the examples has been taken from examination papers set at Glasgow by Prof. A. Gray, LL.D., F.R.S., to whom I must also express my indebtedness for many valuable suggestions. The proofs have been read with great care and thoroughness by r. lohn MW han of theM athematical Department. II. A. HorSTOUN.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents an introduction to mathematical modeling of physical systems. It draws together analytical tools of mathematics with the applications in physics and illustrates how they are used in modeling physical systems and obtaining numerical predictions and solutions. The book begins by framing the concept of mathematical modeling and proceeds to cover topics such as attractions, dynamics, and wave motion before concluding with topics on electromagnetism and thermodynamics. Each chapter concludes with solved examples drawn from previous examination papers and accompanied by detailed discussions, ample illustrations, and practice questions. The book provides a comprehensive approach to understanding mathematical methods of physics and will serve as a valuable resource for students of physics and mathematics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
