This book has a very modest purpose. As the title states, it is designed as an Introduction to the study of political parties and practical politics. It is primarily intended to serve as a text-book. Therefore, no attempt has been made to make it encyclopaedic in scope or exhaustive in its treatment of topics. Suggestiveness and condensation have been kept constantly in mind during its preparation. A fuller treatment of a few topics has seemed wise on accoimt of their importance or the nature of the materials available for student use. Somewhat extended lists of references are to be foimd at the ends of chapters, together with suggested questions and topics. These may be used in different ways: as the basis for collateral reading, for reports before the class; or, where a large library is not at hand, they may be made the basis of a series of lectures and informal discussions. It is believed that the plan of the work is sufficiently elastic to be adaptable to both large and small classes in both large and small institutions. The plan is the outgrowth of several years experience in conducting large classes having access to a comparatively small Ubrary.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents an extensive overview of the history of political parties and practical politics in the US. It provides a detailed description of each of the two major series of committees that exist within every party, and how these committees work to develop and implement election campaign strategy at local, state and national levels. The author also examines the internal dynamics of political parties, discussing the formation of party factions and the challenges they pose to the party leadership. The book further delves into the relationship between political parties and public opinion, exploring how parties use platforms, rallies and other methods to shape public opinion and gain electoral support. The author explores the role of political parties in a democracy, arguing that while they can be a source of division and disagreement, they also play a vital role in organizing public opinion, educating voters, and ensuring that the government is responsive to the needs of the people. The book concludes by emphasizing the importance of political parties in the functioning of a democratic society, arguing that they are essential for the effective representation of diverse interests and the peaceful transfer of power.
