This work is inscribed to my much esteemed friends, whose timely counsel and kindly advice made possible my professional career: Burton Lee Thorpe, M. D., D. D. S., of St. Louis, Mo. R. O. Clarida, Professor of Education, Marion, 111.; and G. V. Black, M. D., D. D. S., L. D. D., of Chicago, III. Dr. Black was regarded-and stood pre-eminently highest as one of the greatest authorities on Dental and Medical Education. As an educator he had no equal in the dental profession. His works are eagerly read and consulted with by the profession, and the laity as well.
