Excerpt from Religion and Life
Even in institutions that claim to be Christian the fundamental things of a religious intelligence are all too often but lightly dealt with. It is often assumed that young minds still start with the pre suppositions of the past, whereas, in fact, the teachings of certain classrooms in that same institution may have worked havoc with all those presuppositions. It is to thoughtful men and women who are not in any sense specialists on the fields here touched upon that these chapters are written, and the hope is that they may give a point of w from which a fruitful study of religion is possible. Great conden sation has been aimed at, and many longer expositions have been sacrificed to keep the book within certain limits both of compass and of price. May the reading of these pages strengthen intelligent faith and lead to a vital union with God's purpose as re vealed in the person and work of Christ Jesus our Lord.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive study of religion's profound influence on human history. Starting with the premise that all men have religious impulses, the author traces the evolution of religious beliefs and practices from the earliest animistic cults to the complex theologies of modern times. The study clarifies how religious impulses gave rise to social structures and shaped artistic expression. The book argues that religion has provided humanity with a moral compass and inspired great works of art and architecture. It cautions against the dangers of religious overreach, oppression, and superstition while presenting a compelling case for religious impulses as a vital force in human existence.
