Principal Salmond did me the honour of inviting my assistance in connection with the series of Bible Class Primers, of which he is the editor. For this series, accordingly, I prepared two small volumes, entitled Christian Character and Christian Conduct respectively. They were intended primarily, in common with the other volumes of the series, to be used in Bible Class work ;and it was hoped they would be found helpful by teachers and scholars alike. Principal Salmond has assured me that this expectation has been in a considerable measure ful filled ;and he has suggested the republication of the primers, in one volume, and in a form more attractive than the primers necessarily assume. Messrs T. T. Clark have very kindly adopted this suggestion, and the present volume is the result.
