This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book challenges the traditional understanding of psychology, advocating for a shift from the study of consciousness to the objective observation of behavior. The author argues that the focus on introspection and internal mental states has hindered psychology's progress as a natural science. Instead, the book proposes a behaviorist approach that emphasizes the prediction and control of behavior through the study of stimulus-response relationships and habit formation. Published in an era marked by the rise of behaviorism, this book contributes to the ongoing debate about the nature of psychology and its methods. It delves into topics like instinct, habit formation, learning processes, and the limitations of animal training. The author draws upon extensive research on animal behavior to illustrate key concepts and demonstrate the applicability of behaviorist principles across species, including humans. The book explores themes of adaptation, the influence of heredity and environment on behavior, and the role of language in shaping human experience. It questions the existence of purely mental phenomena like imagery and emotions, suggesting that they can be understood as forms of implicit behavior with observable physiological correlates. By presenting a comprehensive framework for understanding behavior, this book offers valuable insights that extend beyond the realm of psychology, influencing fields such as education, law, and medicine. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
