Excerpt from Chemistry, First Stage
Further experience tells me that it is convenient if demonstrations are given to whole classes at once rather than to single pupils or small groups. It is essential however that pupils, in advance of their fellows, do not proceed with their work till they are in possession of the facts conveyed by the demonstrations, and have answered the questions which follow. In this new edition the endeavour has been made, by photography and letterpress, to reconcile the convenience of the demonstrator with the needs of all his pupils.
