Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a captivating and intimate look at the life and career of Ignatz Moscheles, a celebrated pianist and composer of the 19th century. It delves into Moscheles' musical upbringing in Prague, where his talent was recognized at a young age, and traces his journey through Vienna, Leipzig, and beyond as he navigated the vibrant artistic landscape of his time. The author draws heavily on Moscheles' own diary entries, providing a unique window into the daily life of a musician during a period of great cultural and political change. Readers will encounter a wealth of anecdotes about the legendary figures Moscheles encountered, including Beethoven, Hummel, Spohr, and Meyerbeer, gaining insights into the creative process and personal dynamics of these musical giants. Beyond the personal, the book also offers a rich tapestry of social and musical history, capturing the excitement of the Napoleonic era, the Congress of Vienna, and the emergence of new musical styles and institutions. We see how Moscheles, as a rising star, grappled with artistic rivalries, embraced new musical trends, and navigated the complex social world of the concert hall and salon. The book is a treasure trove of information about the musical life of the period, and an intimate portrait of a musician who played a key role in shaping the musical landscape of Europe. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
