Medical Electricity. It is intended simply as an introduction to a very difficult subject, and is mainly for the use of masseuses preparing for the examinations in Medical Electricity now held by the Incorporated Society ofT rained Masseuses. For this reason the more complicated forms of apparatus, e.g. diathermy, high frequency, etc., have been omitted. The certificated masseuse is bound by the rules of the aboveS ociety to work only under the direct supervision of a registered medical practitioner. It has not therefore been thought necessary to enter to any extent into the pathological and symptomatic aspects of the diseases mentioned; still less to point out the evil results attendant upon erroneous methods of treatment; for it is assumed that the patients are adequately protected by the fact that the doctor prescribes the form of treatment desirable, modifying the same when time and progress make modification necessary. I have endeavoured to avoid, as far as possible, explanations requiring an extensive knowledge of mathematics, physics, and chemistry, and to make use of ordinary rather than technical terms.
