Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This non-fiction work takes a deep look at the life of David Wilber, a self-made businessman turned successful New York Congressman during the late 19th century. Despite beginning life in poverty and having only a common school education, Wilber's determination and business acumen led him to become a wealthy industrialist and community leader. The author traces Wilber's career from his early political involvement as a town supervisor to his service in the United States House of Representatives, where he served on key committees and was a respected voice for his constituents. The book also explores Wilber's personal life, revealing a man of strong character, kindness, and generosity. Through the life and career of David Wilber, this book offers a valuable historical account of American society, politics, and the rise of industry in the 19th century.
