The advocate for truth may descend into the field of controversy, he may engage every adversary that comes in his way, he may pursue and expose every single error. But error possesses a wide and dark dominion, and he who undertakes the conquest of the whole, undertakes a labor that is almost infinite. It will still find some obscure corner to retire to, from which it will be found hard to dispossess it. Error is various and changeable ;a circumstance of which a skilful adversary vill not fail to lake the advantage. When his opinion is ready to be wrested from him, he will take entire possession of it again under another shape. He will lead us through all the mazes of controversy, and whilst we press hard upon him, vill still find a way, amidst all its intricacies, to escape the pursuit.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book, from the 18th century, explores the nature and workings of faith from a Biblical perspective. The author, a devout believer, examines the various definitions of faith and traces its origins and development throughout history, with clarity and depth. Organized into four thought-provoking sections, the book systematically delves into the nature, origin, foundation, and evidence of faith, as well as its tendency and effects. Drawing heavily from the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, the author posits that faith is primarily a belief in the Gospel, a belief that has practical implications for thought, word, and deed. While acknowledging the complexity of the subject, the author seeks to present a comprehensive and coherent theory of faith, anchoring it firmly in the context of Christian doctrine and practice. This book offers a valuable resource for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of faith and its role in the Christian life.
