Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents the story of Genesis from the creation to the settling of the Israelites in Egypt. Drawing on existing oral and written traditions of the Hebrew people, the author explores the themes of God, faith, hope, and duty. The work is attributed to multiple sources: the Primitive Document, Elohistic Document, Deuteronomic and Priestly Document. The book is not a history in the modern sense, but a compilation of traditions and narratives which illustrate the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Israelites. The author's intent is to demonstrate how God's covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob forms the basis of the relationship between God and Israel.
