This circumstance explains the epithet parent-stream Autumn, line His father, minister of that place, was but little known beyond the narrow circle of his co-presbyters, and to a few gentlemen in the neighbour hood but highly respected by them for his piety and his diligence in the pastoral duty, as appeared afterwards in their kind offices to his widow and orphan family.

The Rev. Thomas Thomson was admitted minister Of Ednam in 1692. He was appointed to Southdean, a more extensive parish in the same shire, soon after the poet was born and preached his farewell sermon at Ednam in November, 1700. The manse of Southdean is near the silvem Jed.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book takes the reader on a journey through all four seasons, from the rebirth of spring to the icy grip of winter, exploring the beauty and the changes that each season brings. Beginning with a dedication to the Countess of Hertford, the author provides vivid descriptions of nature, of the natural world awakening from its winter slumber. He paints pictures with words that allow the reader to hear the birds singing, to smell the flowers, and to experience the changing landscape around them. The author also reflects on the human condition, seeing the seasons as a metaphor for the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. He explores the darker side of the human heart, but also finds joy and hope in the beauty of nature. This is a book that will appeal to nature lovers, to those who appreciate beautiful writing, and to anyone who has ever pondered the meaning of life. It is a book that will be treasured for generations to come.
