Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book begins by proving the necessity of being taught the principles of the oracles of God. It then proceeds through the existence of God, the divine authority of the Scriptures, the unity of Godhead and the Trinity of persons in the divine essence. The author does not need to spend much time on the larger discourse which some might expect, demonstrating the Trinity in a rational way, as some have been prone to do. Rather, the author insists that since the Trinity is revealed in Scripture, we may very well take it upon the word of him that reports it to us, and who best understands his own nature. Take it, the author says, amongst those things of God, which are only to be known by the Spirit of God; as there are things of a man, that are only known by the spirit of a man that is in him. The author then systematically offers a positive proof of the Trinity, from other scriptures and scripture considerations, and then shows the unreasonableness of what is pretended against it, how irrational the pretence is against such a thing.
