He has found his task difficult even for one long acquainted with Germany and the German language, and he fears that liis version may, by some persons, be pronounced un-K ngliflh. He has, therefore, thankfully availed himself of the assistance of friends, to get rid, as far as poisiblc, of foreign idioms and expressions, even where it seemed neoe Mary to retain, or to exemplify, foreign modes of thought.
