They were written in the course of each successive week previous to their de Uvery, and without the slightest view to pubhcation. The reasons for which they were undertaken are stated in the first Lecture. In preparing them for the press, the Author has availed himself of the opportunity of making various alterations and additions, with the view of rendering them less unworthy of the favourable attention with which they were at first received.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of the Anglo-Catholic or Puseyite movement within the Church of England. The author traces the origins of this school of thought from its roots in the Oxford Tracts of the 1830s, exploring its distinctive principles and practices. The book examines the movement's emphasis on the authority of the Church and clergy, its embrace of Catholic rituals and traditions, and its view of itself as the sole legitimate Christian denomination. The author sheds light on the influence of earlier figures such as Archbishop Laud and how Puseyite principles have shaped the Church of England's relationship with the state. By examining the intellectual foundations, historical development, and ongoing impact of Anglo-Catholicism, this book offers a comprehensive understanding of this significant religious movement. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
