Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book demonstrates that the sacred deposit of the Revelation of Christianity has been confided by God to an infallible authority. The author argues that God must have left some means by which we can know with certainty the Dogmas, the Precepts, and the Institutions of Jesus Christ. They assert that the three different methods by which Jesus Christ could have done this, were: a particular and immediate inspiration, a dumb book such as the Scriptures, or a living Infallible Authority to transmit it from generation to generation. The author then rules out the first two methods, leaving only the third as the one which Jesus Christ has chosen. The author goes on to provide a series of facts, not less certain than those which produced them, to prove that this body of Pastors [the Church] are In fallible, that is to say, that it never has nor never could deceive or be deceived, in regard to the Doctrine of Jesus Christ. The author concludes by discussing the effects of the Protestant Reformation, which they argue has had a negative impact on Christianity. Overall, this book provides a detailed and well-argued case for the existence of an infallible authority in the Catholic Church.
