The author does not seek to persuade readers towards one specific denomination but rather to point out the differences in belief between each. The author argues that even those who believe in eternal punishment for some or all do not think that God created the world with that purpose in mind. The author goes on to argue that any omnipotent, just God would not have created people with free will if their ultimate destiny could not be one of peace, happiness, and holiness. This book explores deeply the relationship between a God of love and justice and the concept of free will, and it comes to the conclusion that ultimately all people will return to God out of their own free will.
