Liverpool For six years now, as the great Church seasons have come round, it has been my duty and my pleasure to organise for you, either in Wavertree Parish Church or in S. Bridget s, similar groups of Sermon-L ectures. By this means I am glad to think I have been able to give you the opportunity of hearing many of the most distinguished leaders of thought in the Church of to-day. I ndeed, the pulpit of S. Bridget s Ithink I am making no undue boast has done much during the last year or two to vindicate in Liverpool the comprehensiveness and catholicity, no less than the devotion and sound learning, of our national Church. For as we have heard in S. Bridget smen of all parties, so we have discussed subjects of all kinds. There has been but one limitation: that the teachers have spoken and the message has been delivered under the solemn sense of the invocation with which each Lecture or Sermon has begun: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the supremacy of Christ in all realms of thought and action, arguing that Christ's teachings hold sway over human civilization, culture, politics, economics, philosophy, art, and science. The author, an esteemed theologian, presents a compelling argument that Christ's doctrine of the Incarnation, which emphasizes the divine and human natures of Christ, provides a framework for understanding the world and our place within it. This concept is contrasted with the Augustinian theology that has dominated Western thought, offering a more hopeful and progressive view of human history. Through a series of insightful essays by renowned theologians, this book delves into the profound implications of Christ's teachings, shedding light on their transformative power in shaping human civilization.
