Synopsis

Shape a life of purpose by aligning mind, will, and heart with lasting virtue. This guide explores how character grows when intellect, passion, and grace work together, grounding moral growth in practical daily practice rather than theory alone. It offers a clear path for readers who want to translate ideas into steady habits.

The book explains how truth, reflection, and disciplined study can reform both mind and conduct. It blends spiritual insight with practical advice, helping readers understand the connections between thoughts, choices, and real-life action.

  • How to balance knowledge, will, and feelings to build character

  • Ways to transform impulses into constructive, virtuous habits

  • Practical approaches to study, reflection, and daily discipline

  • Guidance on integrating personal beliefs with everyday choices

Ideal for readers seeking a thoughtful, faith-informed approach to character development and practical self-improvement.

Présentation de l'éditeur

The subject dealt with in this work is no novelty. From long ago, ingenious psychologists and serious moralists have preached on the formation of character and the training of the Will. They have, in some sort, prepared the ground for us, and pointed out the path to be followed. Yet, as we become conversant with psychological and moral research relative to the education of character, we are struck by the limitedness of the methods employed. Psychologists have confined themselves too exclusively to the psycho-physiological side, ignoring the moral aspect of the problem to be solved, whereas the moralists, on the other hand, have overmuch disregarded psychological sources. Hence, it seems necessary for us to unite these two systems into one living synthesis, to make manifest the share supplied by Grace and the Christian ideal in the work of self-conquest, without overlooking the fact that Grace cannot annihilate nature, and that, in our co-operation in this work, due account must be taken of the physiological and psychological conditions of moral activity. We have assured ourselves of the utility of this synthetic method for such as shrink from starting life blindfold, and, in this assurance lies, indeed, the supreme reward of all apostolic endeavour.
