Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the contentious 1920s trial of C.E. Ruthenberg and I.E. Ferguson, two prominent figures in the burgeoning American Communist movement. The trial revolved around their alleged violation of New York's Criminal Anarchy Law, a law passed in the wake of President McKinley's assassination and intended to suppress anarchist ideologies. The book presents the trial transcripts as a compelling window into the burgeoning Communist movement in the United States and the anxieties surrounding it. It explores the theoretical underpinnings of Communism as articulated by the defendants, highlighting their arguments against the characterization of their political beliefs as criminal anarchy. Through the defendantsâ own words, the book exposes the class-based nature of the trial, revealing the deep divisions and political anxieties that gripped American society in the years following World War I. This book offers a unique and valuable historical perspective on the evolution of communist thought in the United States and the legal and societal challenges it faced in the early 20th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9781331222453_0
