It argues that a uniform approach to teaching these languages would improve the general standard of Latin and Greek instruction in the UK. The report includes recommendations for changes in pronunciation and spelling of these languages, and provides a scheme of study for Latin in schools with a leaving age of 18 or 19, and schools preparatory thereto. As well as this, there is a scheme of study for secondary schools under a local education authority. The book also includes a discussion of the relative merits of different methods of teaching Latin and Greek. The report was adopted by the Classical Association in 1906 and has since been approved by various other bodies, including the Head Masters Conference, the Incorporated Association of Head Masters, and the Incorporated Association of Assistant Masters.
