Excerpt from The Bible
The object of these Lectures is to present the teaching of Swedenborg concerning the Sacred Scriptures, in a form likely to reach those who might otherwise remain in ignorance of it; and for this purpose I have used what ever ih the collateral writings of the New Church I have found available for argument or illustration. Whatever has thus been as similated into the scheme and purpose of this presentation,i of course make myself responsi ble for; but if credit is to be given, I wish to say it very likely belongs to others. It is only fair to add, that the Lectures, delivered from time to time, which have appeared in the Chicago T imes, called forth expressions of interest from various sources, which suggested the probable usefulness of printing them in this.
