A revealing, firsthand view of Persia’s constitutional era and European meddling
This nonfiction work presents W. Morgan Shuster’s personal account of diplomatic intrigue, financial reform, and power struggles in early 20th‑century Persia. It sheds light on how foreign influence shaped the fate of a nation and its people amid upheaval and reform.
The book traces key events from the 1906 constitutional movement through the subsequent crises, including clashes between reformers, royal authorities, and foreign powers. It offers a candid look at the challenges of modernizing a state while navigating international pressure and internal factional politics.
