Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.
But, in order that everything possible may be done to avoid these evils in the future, it is necessary that those who influence the opinion of the various nations should have a clear apprehension of all the means which are available for the preservation of peace, and, at the same time, that they should appreciate the danger of placing excessive reliance upon the efficacy of any particular measure. At present there appears to be a disposition on the part of many generous minds to believe that the formation of a League of Nations for the purpose of preventing wars will in itself result in the practical maintenance of general peace. It certainly, indeed, seems probable that a confederacy of this kind, which has been advocated by several great thinkers in the course of the last few centuries, will be actually established at no distant date.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the crucial question of preventing war through the lens of international relations. The author, a notable expert in the field, posits that as humanity evolves towards a state of goodwill and harmony, war will inevitably diminish. Despite this optimistic outlook, the author cautions that nations will continue to experience shifts in power and territorial boundaries, which could potentially ignite conflicts. To address this, the book proposes a framework for a League of Peace, an international body tasked with resolving disputes and maintaining peace. By examining the historical trajectory of human social progress, the book provides a comprehensive understanding of the causes of war and offers practical solutions for a more peaceful future.
