Excerpt from The Law Relating to Public Libraries and Museums: And Literary and Scientific Institutions
The first Act which received the sanction of the Legislature was 8 85 9 Vict. 43, passed in 1845. It related to Museums only, and, being very concise in its provisions, may be sup posed not to have answered the purpose of its promoters, for in 1850 it was repealed by 13 85 14 Vict. 65, which took its place.
