Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a religious poetry collection that draws inspiration from the author's time at sea. The book is significant as it includes some poems that were published separately in Sydney in 1826, under the title Aurora Australis. These early poems were inspired by the author's second voyage to Australia and have long been out of print. The book is divided into three main parts. Part One focuses on the God of Abraham and was first published in 1826. Part Two includes occasional pieces that were published in colonial journals over the past forty years, as well as a poem in ottava rima, entitled A Voyage to New South Wales, written during the author's first voyage to Australia in 1822 and 1823. Part Three features a selection of the author's Improved Metrical Translation of the Psalms of David, which occupied much of his time and attention during successive voyages to and from the mother country from 1830 to 1853.
