Synopsis

A fairy-tale that blends whimsy with wonder and timeless questions about imagination.

This edition presents a vivid remix of Anatole France’s Bee: the Princess of the Dwarfs, where mystical realms spill into the earthly world. Readers follow adventures that mix magic, longings, and moments of sly humor as characters travel between crystal palaces, enchanted seas, and human desire.

  • Meet dwarfs, Sylphs, and a girl named Bee in a tale that questions what makes a true hero.
  • Experience lush, dreamlike settings and playful, philosophical moments that feel like a cross between fairy tale and literary reflection.
  • See how imagination, memory, and desire collide with duty and the pull of the real world.
Ideal for readers who enjoy fairy tales with artistic flair, thoughtful contrasts between fantasy and reality, and classic literary storytelling.

Excerpt from Bee: The Princess of the Dwarfs

Tells of the News that a white rose brings to the countess of the white moor

Setting on her golden hair a hood spread with pearls and tying round her waist the widows girdle, the Countess of the White Moor entered the chapel where she prayed each day for the soul of her husband, killed by an Irish giant in single combat.

That day she saw, on the cushion of her praying-stool, a white rose. At the sight of it she turned pale and her eyes grew dim; she threw her head back and wrung her hands. For she knew that when a Countess of the White Moor must die she finds a white rose on her stool.
