I am grateful to Dr Bulloch for his kindly Foreword, and for recalling the days of Auld Lang Syne. His father, the late John Bulloch, Founder and Editor of Scottish Notes and Queries, Author of George Jamesone, the Scottish Vandyck, etc., was the friend of my youth who first led me into the fairyland of books, and from whose wisdom and knowledge I profited much in the pursuit of literature. Thus both to father and son I am under literary obligations.
I wish to express my thanks also to the Editor of the Kinross-shire Advertiser for kind permission to repro duce the articles which chie?y make up this little book.
